Aram Sheibani, 43, is currently serving a 37-year jail sentence for running a big drug business. Now, he has to give back nearly £3.5 million he made from his crimes. If he doesn’t, he might get another ten years in prison.
The police found out that Sheibani had a lot of fancy stuff, like expensive houses, fancy cars, and even cryptocurrency. He spent a lot of money on things like cosmetic surgery. Sheibani said his money was from legal things, but the jury didn’t believe him.
The judge said Sheibani was the leader of a big drug group and had connections in Colombia. He even bought machines used to make cocaine.
Sheibani also lied to get mortgages and used fake documents. He was found guilty of many crimes, including fraud and drug-related charges. If Sheibani doesn’t pay back the money in three months, he could spend more time in jail.
The police worked hard on this case, both in the UK and abroad. They say they won’t stop until criminals like Sheibani pay for their crimes and the money they make goes back to the community.
