Virginia Beach as Jordan Hatmaker’s parachute fails mid-air, hurtling her towards the ground at a terrifying 60mph.
Planning on earning her skydiving license, Jordan embarked on her final jump of the day. But disaster struck during her descent over Suffolk, Virginia, on November 14, 2021.
As she attempted to deploy her chute, it tangled around her leg, sending her into a freefall. Despite her desperate efforts to untangle herself, she faced a life-threatening down plane, with both parachutes dragging her towards the earth.
Miraculously, an automatic activation device kicked in, deploying her reserve chute just 200 feet above the ground. But the two canopies sent her spinning uncontrollably, leading to a bone-jarring impact.
Despite excruciating injuries, Jordan remained conscious, fearing paralysis as she lay helpless on the ground, unable to move her lower body.
Emergency responders rushed to her aid, but her injuries were severe, including multiple spinal fractures and a broken leg. Enduring agonizing pain, she was airlifted to safety, her survival hanging in the balance.
In the face of adversity, Jordan’s indomitable spirit shines through. Refusing to let her injuries define her, she bravely shares her story, inspiring others with her resilience and determination.
As she continues her journey of recovery, Jordan’s harrowing ordeal serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the strength of the human spirit.
