Three tourists, including Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, were found dead with gunshot wounds to theirheads in Mexico.
The trio vanished while on a surfing expedition in Ensenada, reportedly ambushed while defending their pickup truck from thieves.
Authorities suspect the assailants targeted the vehicle for its tires, resorting to violence when confronted by the tourists. The bodies, discovered in a well near the attack site, were identified by their grieving relatives who had rushed to Mexico to aid the investigation.
In a grim turn, a fourth body unrelated to the case was also found in the well. Authorities have detained two men and a woman, with one facing charges of “forced disappearance.” The FBI has joined the investigation.
The Ensenada region, known for its surfing spots, reels from the tragedy, reminiscent of past incidents involving Australian surfers in Mexico. As protests echo through the city streets, the global community mourns the loss of these vibrant souls, underscoring the need for safer travel conditions.
