The Bolivian authorities have seized $450 million worth of cocaine in a massive drug bust, intercepting over 7.2 tons of cocaine hidden in trucks bound for Europe
Bolivian police have made headlines with their recent drug bust in Pisiga, Bolivia’s highland region bordering Chile. The authorities intercepted two trucks transporting scrap iron destined for export to Europe via Chilean ports.
Interior Minister Eduardo del Castillo disclosed the significant impact of this interception on drug trafficking, emphasizing its estimated value in the destination country, Belgium, where the drugs were headed. The bust underscores Bolivia’s ongoing battle against drug cartels operating within its borders.
Del Castillo also revealed that the drug trafficker responsible for the shipment had fled to the United States, attributing the escape to leaked information from the prosecutor’s office to the media.
This incident highlights challenges in maintaining the integrity of anti-drug operations and the need for heightened security measures.
