In its updated business plan, Nissan recognizing the growing importance of electrification, intends to have electrified vehicles, including hybrids, comprise 60% of its global sales by the end of the decade.

Despite being an early innovator in electric vehicles (EVs) with the Leaf, Nissan faces stiff competition from rivals like Tesla and BYD, particularly in markets like China. To stay competitive, Nissan plans to introduce 16 electrified models among the 30 new releases.

In response to the intense competition and the industry’s shift toward EVs, Nissan and fellow Japanese automaker Honda have considered forming a strategic partnership to collaborate on EV components and other critical areas. This move reflects the industry’s collective efforts to adapt to the evolving automotive landscape and meet the demands of environmentally conscious consumers.

By leveraging innovation, cost efficiency, and a commitment to electrification, Nissan aims to secure its position in the rapidly evolving global automotive market.
