The FBI and Los Angeles Police Department are probing one of LA’s biggest cash thefts after up to $30 million was stolen from a San Fernando Valley money storage site.
The burglary occurred on Easter Sunday night at a location in Sylmar, where cash from various businesses is managed and stored.
Burglars breached the facility undetected, suggesting a sophisticated operation, and accessed the vault without triggering alarms. Investigators suspect potential insider involvement. The heist was uncovered the following Monday.
The facility, run by security firm GardaWorld, is under scrutiny. The FBI and LAPD are jointly investigating but have not disclosed further details.
This incident ranks among LA’s largest cash robberies, surpassing the previous record of $18.9 million stolen in 1997.
