Ned Nwoko officially resigns from PDP and joins APC

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing the Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending months of speculation

Nwoko cited the growing divisions and factionalization within the PDP as the primary reasons for his departure, stating that these factions had become irreconcilable.

In a letter to the Chairman of the PDP in Ward 8, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nwoko publicly announced his resignation. The letter read:

“I am writing to formally resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party I have proudly served as a foundation member since 1999.

My decision to resign is driven by the deep divisions and factionalization within the party. These rifts have made it increasingly difficult to unite and pursue the collective interests of our people.

Just this week, on January 29th, senior party officials resorted to physical confrontation due to these irreconcilable factions.

I am grateful for the opportunity the PDP provided me to run for the 2022/2023 senatorial election, which allowed me to directly engage with my constituency and present my vision for a better future.

During my campaign, I made solemn promises to my constituents—commitments I hold dearly as a public servant. Unfortunately, the current structure of the party in our state has hindered my ability to fulfill these promises. After careful reflection, I have concluded that stepping away from the party is necessary to honor my responsibilities to the people.

As I part ways with the PDP, I assure all members and my constituents of my continued commitment to statesmanship, unity, and the advancement of Delta North.

This decision is made in the best interest of those I serve, and I remain devoted to the progress and prosperity of our state and nation.”
