A building under construction on Oriwu Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, collapsed around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, resulting in the recovery of two bodies from the rubble

Emergency responders rescued 14 individuals, who were taken to Lagos Island General Hospital for treatment.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, adding that police operatives are on the ground to provide security as rescue operations continue.
Building collapses remain a major concern in Lagos, with past incidents causing significant casualties. In 2019, a similar collapse in Lagos Island left 18 people d3ad and 41 injured, underscoring the urgent need for stricter enforcement of building regulations and oversight of construction projects.
