Suspected cable vandal ELECTROCUTED

A suspected vandal has lost his life after being electrocuted while attempting to tamper with armoured electrical cables at the Jigawa State Secretariat Complex in Dutse

The incident occurred around 10am on Wednesday.

The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating they responded swiftly to a distress call from the Ministry of Works.

In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, it was detailed that upon arrival, officers “discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified male adult under a slab containing electrical wiring.”

Preliminary investigations, according to SP Adam, indicate that “the deceased was electrocuted while attempting to vandalize the cables.”

He further noted, “The body, which had begun to decompose, was evacuated to Dutse General Hospital for a medical examination. This gruesome incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with vandalizing public infrastructure, particularly electrical installations.”

The Jigawa State Police Command strongly condemned such criminal acts and issued a stern warning to the public against engaging in hazardous and unlawful activities.
