Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, have smashed a syndicate that specialised in child trafficking and organ harvesting
The syndicate was said to have stolen many children from Ondo state and sold them off to another gang in Anambra State.
Amotekun began investigation into their activities after a a young boy, Eriponmile, was kidnapped in Ijoka, Davog area of Akure, the state capital.
The infant was tracked to a hospital in the South East and the suspects arrested.
Ondo Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, who paraded the suspects, said it was swift response that led to the rescue of the child.
Those arrested were Amaka Ngozi Ifeanyi, Adaeze Kenneth Etose, Omolara while two others were said to be at large.
Adaeze, daughter of the alleged ring leader, Amaka, said she was not part of the syndicate.
“I’m the first daughter of Amaka Ngozi.
“I’m a baker and my shop is at Sijuade. Before this incident, a lady was pregnant and said she didn’t need the baby. She met with my mom and they took the baby to Anambra State, saying someone needed the baby there.
“After they returned, they rented an apartment. Since then, I’ve distanced myself because when she was going, she asked me to follow her and I said no. I wasn’t given any money.”
According to her mother, “I used to sell clothes before my husband died. I now take babies to a motherless babies’ home in Onitsha to sell for ₦500,000 per child. Myself, Tosin, and Mr Adewale Olokungboye are the ones doing it.”
Another suspect agreed she sold three of her children.
“I gave them my own son; Jessica, Segun, and Ojo. I sold my one-year-old baby for ₦500,000. When they carried out the test on him, the woman said the child is AS and they couldn’t use him because of his genotype. I don’t know the amount they eventually negotiated.”
Father of the rescued boy, Eriseun Omolewo, thanked Amotekun for the prompt action to rescue his son.
