As part of the ongoing probe into Mohbad’s de.ath, VeryDarkMan has interviewed one of Mohbad’s closest friends, Spending, who gave a raw and detailed account of the chaotic events leading up to the singer’s de.ath
The Night of the Show
According to Spending, everything began after Mohbad’s performance.
“After Moh performed that night,” Spending said,
“he told Prime Boy to go and call Adura from the other Prado, so they could share money to the area boys.”
But when Prime Boy approached Adura, he was met with disrespect.
“Adura disrespected Prime,” Spending explained.
“He didn’t answer him, so Prime came back to Moh to report.”
Mohbad calmed Prime down and then said:
“I’m tired, I want to go home.”
Though others suggested they could simply send money, Mohbad insisted on stepping out himself.
“He wanted to get down and see the area boys,” Spending said.
“But we told him, ‘No MOH, you don’t need to.’”
Wunmi then transferred money to the driver to withdraw cash for the boys. Despite this, Mohbad still wanted to get out. Prime tried reasoning with him:
“Don’t you know you’re a celebrity?”
Mohbad snapped:
“Haven’t I told you not to put mouth in my matter?”
Then, without warning, Mohbad began hitting Prime Boy.
“Moh started giving Prime blows,” Spending said.
“But Prime didn’t hit him back. He was saying, ‘Mohbad, I no fit touch you.’”
Mohbad later tried to get down from the car again. When the driver intervened, he was shut down.
“Shut up and mind your business!” Mohbad told him.
He walked to Prime Boy’s side, trying to force the door open. Prime got down. Spending, seated at the back, witnessed what happened next.
“MOH dey punch Prime,” Spending said.
“Suddenly I just hear ‘GBA’ — the Prado glass broke.”
Prime Boy fled, and the boys in the other vehicle—unaware of what had happened—began chasing him.
“Dem begin pursue Prime to beat am.”
Mohbad injured his hand during the commotion.
“He get small wound for hand, and him shirt don soak with blood.”
The Clash With Wunmi
Wunmi started arguing with Mohbad about the way he handled the situation.
“She dey drag words with am say he no suppose do Prime like that.”
Mohbad grew even more furious.
“You suppose dey my side or Prime side? You too get down!”
Tension flared. Wunmi dropped their son Liam on the seat and grabbed Mohbad by the shirt.
“I had to carry Liam,” Spending said.
Wunmi then accused Mohbad of owing her mother money.
“No be my mama borrow you money?”
Mohbad replied:
“I don borrow your mama money many times. Una family broke!”
He then issued a bold statement:
“I get show for U.S. in December. By the time I come back, I go dey worth over $400,000. E go done for you and your family!”
Wunmi shot back with a chilling warning:
“You remember Lil Frosh? Na woman end him career. If you no calm down, I go end your own like that.”
At Orchid Junction, Wunmi said she wanted to get down and lodge in a hotel, but others begged her to stay.
Monday: Regret and Swollen Hand
The next morning around 11 a.m., Mohbad came downstairs apologizing.
“I’m sorry for what happened yesterday,” he told them.
“I drank too much. I go settle with Prime.”
He showed Spending his swollen hand.
“I shock,” Spending said. “How small cut go swell like this?”
Mohbad asked if Spending knew anyone who could treat him at home.
“I no dey sick,” Spending replied. “Go hospital make dem treat you well.”
Mohbad insisted:
“No, I want make dem treat me for house.”
Spending messaged a nurse but got no response. He and DJ Bami went out to look for help. At the pharmacy, they were told to bring Mohbad in. But Mohbad refused.
Around 3 p.m., Spending left the house to freshen up. Later, the nurse responded, saying she was returning from Cotonou.
Tuesday: The Final Moments
On Tuesday morning around 11 a.m., Spending sent the nurse’s number to DJ Bami.
“Three hours later, dem call me say dem dey rush Moh go hospital,” he said.
“When I reach hospital, I see MOH body—lifeless. I break.”
He confirmed those present in the house were DJ Bami, Adura, OG, and Adewest. Darosha had already left.
After Mohbad’s de.ath, Spending was detained for four months.
“Dem talk say na Naira and Sam Larry use me to send nurse go Mohbad.”
He revealed that before all this, his brother had warned him:
“I get bad dream about you. No go any party or show.”
But Spending said:
“I no listen. I say I must honour Moh.”
His Last Words
With a shaky voice and tears in his eyes, Spending made a vow:
“I miss you, Imole. We go fight till we get the justice you deserve. I promise you, Big MOH.”.
