The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released former Sokoto State governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal

Tambuwal was detained on Monday after responding to an EFCC invitation over allegations of fraudulent cash withdrawals amounting to N189 billion during his tenure as governor. He was granted administrative bail and allowed to leave the commission’s headquarters on Tuesday after fulfilling bail conditions.
Meanwhile, the EFCC has condemned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for politicizing its investigation into Tambuwal.
In a statement, EFCC chairman Ola Olukoyede described the ADC’s criticism as “self-serving, diversionary, narrow and idle,” emphasizing that the commission conducts its work without bias or interference.
Olukoyede noted that under his leadership, the EFCC has investigated both ruling party ministers and governors, and should not be singled out for probing opposition figures.
He added, “Every corruption allegation deserves investigation, and there is no limitation of time or season for criminal probes.”
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, signed the statement reaffirming the commission’s commitment to impartiality in handling cases involving politically exposed persons.
