World champion hurdler, Tobi Amusan has called out the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) over the poor quality of kits provided to Team Nigeria ahead of the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo
In a video shared on Snapchat, Amusan expressed frustration, saying that while athletes from other countries receive full suitcases of gear, Nigerian athletes are handed just a small bag every year.
“Oh, Nigeria. All the other countries, they give their athletes suitcases. See what the Nigeria pack give athletes — one small bag. Every year, na so we dey collect am. Which company is this? Iresa? This country is very embarrassing. Na this kind thing go make person switch allegiance. Una never ready,” she lamented.
She added that she would be forced to compete in black Adidas tights due to the poor kit supply.
Speaking partly in Yoruba, Amusan also complained about how her shoe size was mishandled, saying, “They even collected shoe size. I didn’t want to hear that shit! I go show you guys wetin Jamaica collect. Jamaica dey the same WhatsApp group with Nigeria, but dem no bad like this. I go show una now.”
