Actress, Laide Bakare has reacted to criticisms for introducing her 17-year-old daughter to a nightclub
Bakare initially stated that she gave her daughter her first club experience and let her have a taste of alcohol, preparing her for adulthood.

However, she later clarified that she didn’t introduce her daughter to alcohol, only the club environment, as a way to give her exposure for the future.
The backlash was swift, with many Nigerians condemning Bakare’s actions as irresponsible parenting.
Critics argue that exposing a minor to nightlife can have negative consequences and question Bakare’s judgment as a mother.
In response, Bakare defended her actions on Instagram, insisting that her words were misunderstood.
She explained that she took her daughter to the club for the first time at her birthday party, and her intention was not to encourage underage drinking or clubbing.
She wrote:
“Let me mention clearly here that I never said I introduced my daughter, @simlineboss, to alcohol. I only stated that she entered a club with me for the very first time in her life at her birthday afterparty. How is that bad naw?”
In the follow up post, she wrote, “No please, I didn’t do alcohol with @simlineboss, only club, and it’s just to give her a bit of exposure towards the future. I’m not as bad as you think.”
