Comedian and social commentator Mr Jollof has expressed frustration over what he described as the “unrealistic” performance fees being charged by Nigerian musicians ahead of the festive season
Taking to his social media page, Mr Jollof warned that if artistes continue with their current pricing trend, December events may lose the excitement they are known for.

He wrote: “Dear Nigerian Music Artists, the current rate of billing is becoming unrealistic. If it continues, this festive season might not deliver the energy we all expect. Fans, promoters, and communities are struggling with costs — there will be little justification to pay such high amounts. Please, let’s be reasonable so December can remain a season of joy, not disappointment.”
His post has sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that the high performance fees could affect event organisers and limit fan experiences during the popular “Detty December” period.
