The Edo Geographic Information Service has refuted claims that a 17-year-old boy bought 14,000 hectares of land in the state
A social media post once suggested that Governor Monday Okpebholo had halted the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy following the alleged transaction.

In response, the agency, through its Director of Press, Tunde Egbiremonlen, issued a statement on Monday calling the report “false and mischievous.”
Egbiremonlen clarified that no such land purchase exists in the agency’s records and emphasized that, as a minor, a 17-year-old cannot legally register land ownership under Edo law.
“The Edo GIS system will automatically reject such applications due to age restrictions,” the statement added.
