Lagos Govt denies fake kidnapping alert on Gbagada Expressway

The Lagos State Government has debunked online claims suggesting a surge in kidnappings along the Gbagada Expressway

The warning, circulated via a flyer on social media, claimed that commuters were at risk of abduction and that criminals were using the so-called “one chance” method in commercial vehicles.

Responding on Friday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, dismissed the message as false.

“Good morning Lagos, please beware of this fake news in circulation again! We’ve addressed it in the past, but purveyors of fakery are not tired of recycling this rubbish. Kindly ignore it. Thank you,” Akosile wrote on his official X handle.

The flyer, which had been previously debunked, falsely claimed to be an official alert from the Lagos State Government and referenced supposed intelligence from the Lagos State Police Command about kidnapping incidents along the expressway.

Akosile reiterated that the state government did not issue the notice and urged residents to disregard it.
