The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has described himself as one of the most abused politicians in Nigeri after President Tinubu

Wike made the remarks on Saturday during a special thanksgiving service organized by former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, and his family in Ochiba community, Ahoada East Local Government Area, his hometown.

The former Rivers State Governor expressed gratitude to the people of Ahoada East and Ahoada West LGAs for their unwavering support over the years.

“This is the first local government we are coming to say thank you for being there for us all through these years. You know, like the pastor said today, God detests those who are ungrateful. And so for what you’ve done for us, for standing with us, we say thank you. Thank you, and thank you,” Wike said.

Wike also praised residents for consolidating Tinubu’s mandate in Rivers State. “You are the ones who made the mandate strong as far as Rivers State is concerned,” he said.

He made a veiled reference to the recent defection of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, implying their support for Tinubu had come too late. “All these people you now see singing ‘on your mandate we stand,’ when they were needed most, they couldn’t sing that. Now that you stood and voted for him, even saying, ‘woman, I tell you, all your struggle will not go in vain,’ we have come to tell you to remain strong,” Wike said.

Emphasizing the importance of honoring agreements, he added, “You know me, I believe in agreement. Anything you cannot do, don’t say it, don’t even enter into it. We have never wavered in support of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. If you want to know, after Bola Tinubu, the next most abused politician is me. Why? Because we stand by our agreements. We agreed long ago to support him, and that is what we continue to do.”

Wike also noted that some politicians resort to attacking him for personal gain. “One thing you should know about Nigerian politics… people say, ‘this enough is enough for Wike.’ If you say you will deal with Wike, something will come down. If you don’t, you won’t get him,” he said in a mocking tone.
