What happens when consistency meets undeniable talent? For Nollywood’s box office powerhouse, Funke Akindele, it results in yet another major recognition — and this time, it came from the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).
In a ceremony held on Friday at the NFVCB’s Ikoyi office in Lagos, attended by leading industry stakeholders and practitioners, Akindele was celebrated for her record-shattering achievements on the big screen.
The filmmaker, widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most bankable stars, received the Box Office Champion Award (2020) for her blockbuster hit Omo Ghetto: The Saga.
She also scooped the Audience Choice Award (2024/2025) and the Box Office Champion Award (2024/2025) for Everybody Loves Jenifa, alongside the Box Office Champion Award (2025/2026) for Behind The Scenes further solidifying her dominance at the box office.
Clearly moved by the honour, Akindele took to Instagram to share her heartfelt appreciation, describing the moment as deeply meaningful.
“Yesterday was truly special. I was honoured and recognised for my hard work and consistency in the entertainment industry, and my heart is full of gratitude.
