Actor and filmmaker Ben Stiller is calling out the White House after it used a clip from his satirical war comedy Tropic Thunder in a social media post meant to highlight America’s military strength.

The clip appeared in a video montage shared Thursday on the White House’s official X account.
The mashup featured scenes from several blockbuster movies and video games including a quick moment of Tom Cruise dancing as his outrageous studio executive character from Tropic Thunder.
Stiller wasn’t amused.
Responding directly to the post, the director and star quote-tweeted the video and demanded the clip be taken down.
According to him, the White House never got permission to use footage from the film.
He made his stance crystal clear, saying the White House does “NOT have permission” to include Tropic Thunder in the video and adding that he doesn’t want his movie used as “part of your propaganda machine.”
The video has already racked up massive attention online, pulling in more than 28 million views since it was posted.
For Stiller, the issue goes beyond copyright it’s also about the message.
He ended his response with a blunt reminder:
“War is not a movie.”
