It seems some Nollywood actresses are beginning to turn a new leaf, letting go of past misunderstandings and choosing peace over lingering drama.
The latest to make such a move is actress Queeneth Hilbert, who has announced that she will be stepping away from social media for a while.
The actress shared the decision with her followers on Instagram, explaining that she wants to use the time to reflect, make peace with certain people and move forward with a renewed mindset. These certain people includes, Destiny Etiko, Mercy Johnson, Yul Edochie among others.
In the emotional post, Hilbert directed a heartfelt apology to fellow actress Destiny Etiko, acknowledging the hurt between them and admitting that gossip and outside influences contributed to their misunderstanding.
“Dear Destiny, you know the truth, and I know how hurt you are and have been, but these people wouldn’t let me be.
They gossip you to me and gossip me to you.
They’re called Blabbermouth and Gossip Monger. I know a whole lot more I would write, and only you and your God.
I’m telling the truth, and I get it if it takes you millions of years to heal, cause I would do the same.
Forgive your girl and forget. I’ve got your back, and I’m ready to take any lash from anyone, cause your heart is rare, seriously.
I never knew all these things. I was on my own, and they brought it to me, and maybe your post and characters made it seem as if they were right, but I have learnt better now, and I’m sure you have too.”
Hilbert admitted that writing the message was difficult for her and described herself as emotionally shaken by the situation.
“I’m so broken as I drop this.
Today, I am officially announcing that I will be off
Social media has been around for a while to fix certain things
And make peace with some certain spirits …
I will move on as a new person and never be in the
Midst of any blabber mouths or gossip mongers again
Thank you for all the love, and God bless you
I don’t take you guys love for granted, thank you
I have satisfied my conscience, kisses”.
The actress also extended apologies to other Nollywood personalities, including actor Yul Edochie as well as actresses Mercy Johnson and Angela Okorie, asking for forgiveness if she had wronged them in any way.
“Dear Yul, I’m sorry for any way I might have offended you.
I have left that pit that was dug for me just because I wanted a career. I thought he was a chairman I would learn from, but I was wrong.
Please let peace reign.
Your milkshake is ever loyal and let the fire cease.
I take all the blame.
Dear Mama MercyJohnson Sis’m Angela Okorie
Mummy purity, I’m sorry, please help me tag her
I pray God, in His infinite mercy, will touch your heart And Every other person forgives and forgets. I have Learnt from
this, and I believe God has a purpose. Thanks and God
bless you, all Amen”.
Hilbert ended the message by thanking her fans for their continued support, noting that she appreciates the love she receives from them and hopes to return as a changed person after her time away from social media.
