The Ogun State Police Command has started looking into reports that popular skit maker and social media influencer, Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, was allegedly shot in the Sango-Ota area.
The incident was said to have happened on Sunday afternoon while the comedian was filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge.
What exactly led to the alleged shooting is still not clear. However, it was gathered that the influencer sustained a gunshot injury during the incident.
Despite the reports circulating online, the police say they cannot confirm if the incident actually happened within Ogun State.
In a brief statement on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, appealed to members of the public not to spread unverified claims while investigations continue.
“For the sake of clarity, the command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggy was shot anywhere within Ogun State. Investigation into the matter has, however, commenced.
Members of the public are kindly advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to run its course,” he wrote.
It was also gathered that Broda Shaggi’s team has not made any official report to the police since the alleged incident happened.
After the incident, the comedian was reportedly rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where he was admitted and treated.
As of now, neither Broda Shaggi’s family nor his team has released any official statement regarding the incident.
