Social media personality Izegbe Ogbeide has appealed to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to sponsor a book aimed at teaching young girls how to stay safe from exploitation and unsafe travel while calling them out too
“NAPTIP, I saw your message sympathizing with me BUT have a very BIG message for you people, which I promise to say as it is”, she said, expressing disappointment that her 2017 letters seeking help were ignored.
“NAPTIP, it’s so unfortunate that you people do not protect children. You fail in your duty because you failed you didn’t protect me, which I can confidently say,” Ogbeide added.
She said she wants the book published by a reputable UK publisher so it reaches every girl child.
“I WANT TO WRITE A BOOK, made available for every girl child, so that once they see it, they don’t need to be told or advised to travel without their parents they will know the right thing to do and how to avoid being trafficked,” she said.
“I know my book will do a better job than what you are doing… My book will ensure every girl child has this knowledge in Nigeria and globally,” she said, highlighting the importance of early awareness for children.
She urged NAPTIP to sponsor the project, stressing that education can protect girls and equip parents and schools to prevent exploitation.
