Germany didn't reject my ambassadorial appointment - Femi Fani-Kayode

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has denied reports claiming that Germany rejected his ambassadorial appointment

Peoples Gazette had reported on Monday that Fani-Kayode’s posting was turned down due to alleged ethnic and religious remarks.

The report claimed the German government cited his “erratic behaviour” and “controversial past statements, particularly his divisive ethnocentric, tribalistic, and religious fundamentalist comments in Nigeria,” calling them “destabilising.” It also suggested he might be reassigned as ambassador to South Africa.

Fani-Kayode, whose ambassadorial nomination to a Central European country was approved by President Bola Tinubu, dismissed the report on his official X account, accusing opposition politicians of spreading falsehoods.

“Fake news everywhere. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment, and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it. Whether they like it or not, I will serve my country! Keep crying!” he wrote, reaffirming his commitment to serve Nigeria despite attempts to undermine him.
