Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad has revealed that a foreign national, Alex Barbir, has been ordered to leave Nigeria over alleged attempts to stir division in the country
In a post on X, Ahmad said a “reliable source” confirmed that Barbir was engaging in activities aimed at provoking religious tensions in parts of Nigeria.
He noted that Barbir had traveled to several communities in the North Central region, where he allegedly tried to incite unrest.

Ahmad wrote:
“A reliable source has informed me that the hate monger, Mr. Alex Barbir, has been ordered by the authorities to leave this country. Since arriving in Nigeria, he has been attempting to ignite religious tensions, particularly in communities he visited across the North Central region. Our nation’s peace and unity must never be compromised and anyone found promoting division should be held accountable. You cannot come into our country, take advantage of our fragile unity and existing security challenges to create provocative content and attempt to ignite division and then expect to walk away without being held responsible. Nope!”
The development underscores authorities’ stated commitment to protecting Nigeria’s peace and maintaining national cohesion.
