Top figures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and David Mark, on Thursday converged in Abuja for a press briefing aimed at addressing the party’s deepening leadership crisis
The meeting comes in the wake of a decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove the names of Mark and Aregbesola from its official portal as National Chairman and National Secretary of the party.

INEC also stated that it would not recognise Nafiu Bala Gombe, who is seeking to emerge as national chairman through legal action.
In addition, the electoral body announced the suspension of recognition for all factions within the party and declared it would not monitor any conventions or congresses organised by groups linked to the affected leaders.
The Commission explained that its stance would remain until a substantive case before the Federal High Court is resolved.
