The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has declared that the party will not favour or impose any aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that all positions are open for contest

Ojelabi made this known on Thursday in Lagos after the party concluded its National Convention, which produced officials across its various organs. He noted that with the convention out of the way, attention has now shifted to the selection of candidates for the next elections.

He emphasized that the party would provide a level playing field for all interested members, urging aspirants to come forward and participate in the process in line with laid-down rules.

“Now that the convention is over, our main focus is the process of electing the candidates who will fly our party’s flag in the next election. I wish to state categorically that all the available positions are open for contest, as the party has no anointed candidate for any seat. We, therefore, encourage all members who wish to contest any of the positions to do so in accordance with the law,” he said.

Ojelabi added that the exercise would strictly follow the timetable set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act and other relevant laws.

He further revealed that the party intends to adopt direct primaries as its main method for selecting candidates, while also leaving room for consensus arrangements where necessary.
