My signature was forged - Nafiu Bala denies resigning as ADC chairman

Factional national chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Nafiu Bala, has denied reports that he resigned as deputy national chairman, insisting that the circulating resignation letter was forged and did not come from him

In a video published by Rariya Hausa, Bala responded to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Wednesday resolution on the ADC’s ongoing leadership dispute.

He rejected claims that he stepped down on May 17, 2025, saying, “I wish to state that this paper did not come from me, and that is not my signature on it. The signature you see there was forged.”

Bala explained that he assumed the role of acting national chairman following the resignation of the party’s former leadership.

On July 2, former ADC chairman Ralph Nwosu announced that he, his secretary, and other leaders were stepping down, while specifying that Bala and others would continue managing party affairs until the next national convention.

Citing the party constitution, Bala affirmed his official resumption as national chairman, stating, “Because of that, I am resuming office today as the ADC national chairman. According to our party constitution, when there is no leader, the deputy takes over.”
