Five forest guards, among them a unit commander, lost their lives on Friday after armed bandits launched a de.adly assault on Nuku community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State
Reports indicate that the attackers invaded the settlement, wreaking havoc by destroying the guards’ motorcycles and setting multiple buildings ablaze.

During the violence, police patrol vehicles stationed in the area were also reportedly torched by the assailants.
Residents recounted how the sudden attack triggered widespread fear and chaos, forcing many villagers to flee in different directions in search of safety.
Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Police Command, through its spokesperson Adetoun Ejire, disclosed that security operatives have commenced a tactical, intelligence-led operation aimed at tracking down those responsible.
