Reality TV star Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has responded strongly to the criticism she’s been receiving online after revealing she recently underwent cosmetic surgery.
The winner of Big Brother Naija Level Up had earlier shared that she got a 360 liposuction and a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). However, her announcement didn’t sit well with some people, especially those who felt it was too soon, considering she lost her sister less than a year ago.
Reacting to the backlash, Phyna didn’t hold back. In a now-deleted comment, she called out Nigerians for being judgmental and hypocritical. According to her, many of those criticizing her are simply projecting their own unhappiness.
She wrote:
“Nigerians are hypocrites. A lot of miserable people in my comment section are dragging me for doing BBL a few months after my sister’s de@th. Even her parents moved on the second day she d!ed. I have already grieved my sister, and she will always remain in my heart”.
Phyna made it clear that everyone handles grief differently and that she has already taken time to mourn her sister in her own way.
She also fired back at a social media user who questioned her decision, responding bluntly.
The critic asked:
“Wetin dey worry you? Shey, your sister just die”.
Phyna replied:
“I be think sey your mama die yesterday”.
Her response has since sparked mixed reactions, with some supporting her stance on personal healing, while others still believe her reaction and timing were insensitive.
