Governor Dapo Abiodun on Monday endorsed Senator Solomon Adeola, aka Yayi, as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress, for the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State
The declaration was made during a high-level APC caucus meeting involving key party leaders and stakeholders, where discussions focused on succession plans and early strategies for the next electoral cycle.
In a video from the gathering, Abiodun, clad in a light blue agbada with a black cap, addressed attendees and hinted that the party had already settled on its preferred flag bearer.
“But first, we’ve decided who is deserving as the next flag bearer of our dear state.”
Following the statement, Adeola stood up to loud applause, as supporters celebrated with chants and musical instruments echoing across the venue.
The governor also used the moment to emphasise the importance of continuity within the party, recalling previous leadership transitions and urging unity in backing a candidate capable of maintaining the APC’s stronghold in the state.
