Veteran actor Abiodun Ayoyinka, widely recognised for playing Papa Ajasco in the sitcom Papa Ajasco and Company, has refuted claims that he received a car and $25,000 amid ongoing discussions about his financial situation
The 65-year-old recently came into the spotlight following a viral interview with media personality Lucky Udu, where he spoke about the challenges he has faced despite years in the entertainment industry.
The interview sparked widespread reactions, including comments from show creator Wale Adenuga, who stated that the actor had enjoyed various forms of support during his time on the series, including access to vehicles such as a Mercedes-Benz.

The situation further escalated after Lucky Udu accused the actor of not properly acknowledging his role in bringing renewed attention to his story, saying: “The only appreciation I got from Papa Ajasco was an Instagram voice message.”
He also revealed that attempts to secure additional support for the actor, including a planned meeting in Abuja, did not materialise.
In a fresh interview with Daddy Freeze, Abiodun Ayoyinka addressed the claims, clarifying that while the viral interview helped revive public interest in his life, the financial assistance he received came mainly from fans.
“After the interview, I appreciated my fans, and I appreciated Lucky Udu. It gave me a new life and a new beginning,” he said.
According to him, donations from the public amounted to nearly N6 million, contributed in varying sums ranging from N1,000 to as much as N1 million.
He, however, dismissed reports that he received a car or $25,000, insisting such claims are false.
“I am still trekking and jumping the bus. I did not receive any car; some people came to my house to see the car, and I told them I didn’t see any car,” he said.
Reacting to Adenuga’s comments, the actor clarified that he once owned an old Mercedes 200 during his active years, but no longer has the vehicle.
He maintained that his aim is to set the record straight and clear up what he described as misinformation surrounding his situation and the support he has received.
