Media personality Roby Ekpo has responded through his legal team after his estranged wife, Mayowa Lambe, filed a defamation suit against him over statements he made about their marriage
In a formal letter shared publicly, Ekpo’s lawyer acknowledged receiving the cease-and-desist notice issued on behalf of Lambe, which accused him of malicious defamation, spreading false narratives, and causing reputational damage. However, the letter firmly rejected the allegations, describing them as disputed and stating that they would be challenged.
According to the response, Ekpo maintains that his statements were based on his personal experiences and understanding of events, insisting that he did not act with malice or any intention to damage Lambe’s reputation. The letter also argued that the issues stem from a complicated relationship that cannot be selectively presented to create a misleading narrative against him.

Ekpo’s legal team further claimed that he possesses documentary and testimonial evidence, including communications and records, which they say contradict several of the claims made in Lambe’s legal notice. They added that such materials would be presented at the appropriate time.
The lawyer also dismissed the ₦100 million damages demanded by Lambe as excessive, unfounded, and premature, while criticising the two-day ultimatum given to Ekpo as unreasonable and inconsistent with legal standards.
The letter made it clear that Ekpo would not comply with the demands and is prepared to defend himself in court if the case proceeds. It added that he may also file counterclaims, including allegations of harassment, intimidation, and reputational harm arising from what he described as false or exaggerated accusations.
Additionally, the response stated that parts of Lambe’s letter could serve as admissions supporting Ekpo’s claims and may be used in legal proceedings, including submissions to United States authorities.
Ekpo’s legal team concluded by advising that all further communication be handled through lawyers, noting that while he remains open to lawful resolution, he would not be pressured into making admissions or concessions under threat.

The dispute comes after Lambe issued a cease-and-desist notice demanding a public retraction, apology, and ₦100 million in damages over Ekpo’s comments about their failed marriage .
