Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has responded to recent comments made by skitmaker and influencer Ashmusy, who earlier shared her experience with egg freezing as a way of preserving fertility and avoiding pressure to rush into marriage.
Ashmusy had revealed that she underwent the procedure explaining that it was a personal decision aimed at securing her future motherhood while allowing her more time to make important life choices. Her message also encouraged women to consider fertility preservation options.
Reacting to the discussion, Sarah Martins acknowledged the importance of Ashmusy’s awareness message but stressed that egg freezing does not offer protection against sexually transmitted infections.
Taking to social media, she wrote:
“Dear Ashmusy,
Thank you for educating women on egg freezing.
But, please remind them that freezing their eggs to prevent an unwanted pregnancy doesn’t prevent them from getting infected with HIV/AIDS and other diseases that come with careless bedmatics.
It is better to freeze your eggs than give birth to unplanned children.
But it doesn’t prevent you from getting infections, my queens. Still use protection.
Protect yourself always
Kudos to my boo @ashmusy”.
Sarah Martins’ reaction has broadened the conversation following Ashmusy’s disclosure about freezing her eggs. While the discussion began around fertility preservation and taking control of reproductive choices, it has now drawn attention to se.xual health awareness as well. Her comments underline that although egg freezing may help with future family planning, it does not replace the need for safe sexual practices or protection against infections.
