Nigerian media entrepreneur and TV host Chude Jideonwo has shared a personal reflection on his views about marriage and emotional readiness, noting that he believes he would not have made the right decision if he had gotten married in his mid-twenties.
Speaking candidly about that phase of his life, he admitted that he was once eager to settle down, but his mindset at the time was shaped more by loneliness than genuine preparedness for commitment.
He recalled:
“When I was in my 20s, I was very desperate to get married… I was very lonely. I thought a wife was going to cure that, but I later realised I was simply lonely, and marriage would not have solved that.”
According to him, what he now understands is that marriage cannot resolve internal struggles or emotional gaps. He explained that during his twenties, he was still in the process of understanding himself, and that lack of self-awareness would have made marriage a poor decision at the time.
He added that growth, clarity, and emotional stability are important before taking on long-term commitments, stressing that his earlier desire for marriage was more about searching for comfort than being truly ready.
Looking back, he believes that timing and personal development played a key role in shaping his current perspective on relationships and life choices.
