The Kano State House of Assembly has given its approval for Murtala Sule Garo to assume office as the new Deputy Governor of the state
His confirmation came after lawmakers concluded his screening during plenary, which was presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

While presenting the committee’s report, the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello, who led the ad hoc panel, explained that Garo’s nomination followed the resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
He noted that the exercise was conducted in accordance with Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the Assembly to confirm a replacement when the position becomes vacant.
During the process, Garo was questioned on his academic background, professional experience, grasp of governance, and his plans for Kano State. The committee also verified his credentials.
Lawmakers said he demonstrated a solid understanding of the responsibilities attached to the role and outlined how he intends to support the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Following the review, the committee recommended his confirmation, a decision that was subsequently endorsed by the House.
