Nollywood star Mide Martins has spoken candidly about the journey that led to her marriage with actor and filmmaker Afeez Owo.
She revealed that their relationship grew from years of trust and support following the death of her mother, veteran actress Funmi Martins.
The actress explained that after losing her mother, Afeez remained close to the family and played a major role in helping them handle responsibilities left behind.
Despite his dedication, she initially found it difficult to accept the idea of a romantic relationship because she had always viewed him as family.
“Honestly, when he first told me about his feelings, I was shocked and even asked if he was serious because I never imagined we could become lovers. But with time, I began to notice qualities in him that I truly admired.”
According to Mide, the qualities that eventually changed her mind were his loyalty, kindness, caring nature, and calm personality. She said those traits made her see him differently and ultimately convinced her to give love a chance.
Speaking further on marriage, the actress encouraged couples to practice patience and understanding, stressing that no relationship is free from challenges.
She noted that remaining calm during difficult periods has played a significant role in keeping her marriage strong over the years.
