Actor Lateef Adedimeji has shared the touching story of how his relationship with wife Adebimpe Oyebade quickly blossomed into marriage despite their short courtship.
According to him, their relationship started from a very simple and friendly connection as colleagues in the movie industry. Although they were very close, he explained that nothing serious was happening between them at the time.
Recounting how everything changed unexpectedly, Lateef said:
“Myself and Mobimpe only dated for just 2 to 3 months, though we ve have been so close but we were just gisting as colleagues.”
He went on to explain that one morning, he decided to jokingly ask her a life-changing question.
“So one morning l jokely called her and l asked her directly if she could get married to me.”
Her response, however, came with a major concern.
“And she replied that her dad wouldn’t allow her to get married to a Muslim, l told she shouldn’t worry l will personally visit her dad.”
Determined to prove his intentions were genuine, the actor revealed that he later travelled with her to their hometown during a festival celebration to meet her family personally.
“When l heard they were having one festival in their home town l decided to follow her down.”
Speaking about the meeting with her father, Lateef disclosed that he openly expressed his love and desire to marry her daughter.
“On getting there, l met with her father and l told him straight That l love his daughter and l wish to get married to her and l promised taking good care of her.”
After listening to him, Mobimpe’s father requested his name so the family could pray and seek direction before making a decision.
“The father requested for my name and said they were going to pray over it.”
Fortunately for the couple, the family eventually gave their approval, and their relationship moved swiftly into marriage.
“When he gave his consent, we only dated for just 2 to 3 months and we officially got married and here we are today to the Glory of the Lord.”
