Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat has called for urgent federal intervention following growing security concerns linked to forest corridors around Oyo State after the recent abduction incident involving students and teachers in Ogbomoso.
He warned that the situation demands immediate attention from authorities, stressing that the surrounding forest terrain has become a major concern due to its vast and interconnected nature.
“The presidency needs to act fast, there’s a very thick Forest Bush beside the school students and teachers were abduct£@,” he said.
According to him, the forest is not limited to one location but stretches across multiple states and even extends beyond Nigeria’s borders, making security tracking and rescue operations extremely difficult.
“You can walk in this Forest in Oyo State and get to Niger State, you can also walk inside this forest and get to Benin Republic, you can get to Osun, Kwara and so many other places,” he stated.
He expressed concern about the challenges authorities may face in locating victims and apprehending suspects within such a vast and connected environment.
“So where can we locate all these people now?” he asked.
Describing the situation as urgent, he urged swift action to prevent further escalation of insecurity in the region.
“There’s fire on the mountain in Oyo State,” Hamzat declared.
