RCCG denies claims of political campaigning by Adeboye

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has denied claims that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, campaigned for any government in power, stressing that he has always maintained a neutral stance on partisan politics

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the church’s Public Relations unit said Adeboye has consistently encouraged members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in elections by voting for candidates of their choice, rather than endorsing any political party.

RCCG also dismissed reports suggesting that the cleric called off a planned protest, explaining that he only conveyed a directive from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) regarding adjustments to a scheduled three-day prayer programme and rally.

The church further rejected allegations that Adeboye has been silent on national issues, stating that he has consistently spoken on matters such as insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, and governance, often offering moral guidance, prayer, and counsel rather than partisan commentary.

According to the statement, “Pastor E.A. Adeboye only communicated the instruction of the Pentecostal Fellowship in Nigeria to members of the RCCG on the updated plan to have the grand finale of the Three Day Prayer Program in a centralized venue and hold a rally around the venue. This was communicated by PFN to all churches under PFN in Nigeria.”

It added, “Let it be clearly stated: Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and neither will the Church remain silent while inaccurate narratives are repeatedly circulated as facts.”

“If a claim is not communicated, verified, or endorsed through RCCG’s official communication channels, it should not be regarded as an official position of the Church.”
