Buchi slams Alaseyori over prayer-only security comments
“Please shut up” — Solomon Buchi blasts Adeyinka Alaseyori over prayer comments

Social commentator Solomon Buchi has slammed gospel singer Adeyinka Alaseyori over her comments on the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, accusing her of defending political leaders instead of demanding accountability.

Buchi’s criticism followed a viral video in which Alaseyori urged Nigerians to pray for the safe release of the victims. The gospel singer maintained that President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and security agencie are working for better Nigeria and to secure the release of the abd^ctees, stressing that citizens should support the efforts through prayers.

Her remarks, however, sparked backlash on the Internet, with many Nigerians arguing that prayer alone was not enough and that government officials should be held accountable for tackling the country’s worsening insecurity and take actions.

Reacting to Alaseyori’s comments, Buchi accused some ministers and gospel musicians of compromising their conscience because of their relationships with politicians.

“Yinka, please shut up. You obviously don’t know what you are saying. Some of you ministers have sold out your conscience to politicians. You have them donating to your programs and to your churches, ministry, and anything you are doing, so it’s easy for you to come on social media to rant and be saying that the president and vice president are working, that you know that they are working,” he wrote.

The social commentator expressed outrage over the continued abd^ction of innocent children, questioning Alaseyori’s defense of the government amid the security crisis.

“You will say that because you lack conscience. Innocent children have been k%dnapped for the past two weeks, and you have the mouth to be saying that?” he added.

Buchi also criticized the tendency to rely solely on prayer while neglecting practical solutions to national challenges.

“I’m a Christian. I believe in prayers, but in this situation, prayers will not do for us what God has given us the ability to do ourselves,” he stated.

According to him, national development and effective governance require deliberate policies and action rather than prayers alone.

“Policy-making is not the product of prayers. China is not developed by prayers. Dubai is not developed by prayers. The places that a lot of you celebrities go on holidays were not developed by prayers,” he said.

He further described what he called a harmful culture of excessive dependence on prayer in addressing governance issues.

“You guys need to stop this nonsense, psychopathic, occultic version of Christianity that you are using to enslave people in Nigeria; everything is, ‘Let’s pray, let’s pray.’ We have been praying for Nigeria since I was a child till today. Should we not do something else by taking action while we pray in the background?” Buchi wrote.

He concluded by accusing some gospel musicians of abandoning their principles while influencing public opinion in favor of politicians.

“Some of you gospel musicians have sold your conscience, and you dare to slam one touching music in the background and say rubbish,” he added.
