Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued Mrs. Abubakar, the wife of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar, after a violent confrontation with armed band!ts in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the development in a report shared on his official X handle on Monday night, detailing how the rescue mission unfolded during ongoing military operations in the area.
According to him, the operation was carried out under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, following intelligence-led offensives launched in Matazu and neighbouring communities after the senior officer’s wife was abducted.
Security sources cited by Makama said troops engaged the bandits at Tunga village during a coordinated search-and-rescue mission, forcing the attackers to flee due to superior firepower.
“The bandits shot her and fled when we made contact at Tunga village. We have rescued Mrs. Abubakar. She is bleeding. We have given her first aid and are moving her for urgent medical attention,” a military source said.
