A movie critic has publicly apologised to Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri following backlash over a review in which she heavily criticised Kadiri’s YouTube productions.
In the original review, the critic accused Kadiri of consistently releasing low-quality films despite her strong presence on YouTube, where her movies often attract millions of views.
She argued that viewers were becoming frustrated with what she described as weak storytelling and declining production standards, saying audiences were “tired” and demanding better quality content.

The critic also questioned Kadiri’s creative choices, alleging that she prioritises personal relationships over proper casting decisions, which she claimed affects the quality of her projects.
“We are tired and we are telling you to please give us good quality movies… if you open YouTube your movie is one of the first ones that will pop up… people will now watch it and start having migraines,” she said.
“Her stories are always weak… the performance here is very lackadaisical… she doesn’t match actors to characters, she matches actors based off her preference… hence why her movies tend to suffer,” she added.
Without knowing what transpired in the background, the critic suddenly responded with an apology, acknowledging that her comments may have been offensive or unfair to Ruth Kadiri and her brand.
She said her intention as a reviewer is to critique films honestly, but admitted her delivery may have been harsh and damaging.
She added that she had taken steps to remove the content and would ensure future reviews are more respectful and constructive, while also extending an apology to Kadiri, her team, and supporters.
“I acknowledge that some of my expressions may have been perceived as offensive, hurtful or damaging to Mrs Ruth Kadiri… I truly regret any distress or embarrassment caused,” she stated.
