If you are paid to play drums in church, you will never become rich” – Pastor Ibiyeomie

Popular pastor David Ibiyeomie says church instrumentalists and others who receive payment for serving in God’s house may be preventing themselves from experiencing God’s blessings and lasting prosperity

According to him, service to God should be done willingly and not for financial reward, adding that once money becomes the reason for serving, the spiritual blessing attached to that service is lost.

“In some churches, when people play the drums, they are paid for it. I say, if you’re playing the drums and getting paid, that’s why you’ll never be rich. If you are hearing me anywhere in the world, and you are paid for rendering service to God, I can tell you that you will never come out of poverty,” he said.

Explaining his point, the pastor quoted the Bible, saying, “‘Thou shalt serve the Lord your God, and He shall bless your bread and water.’ So the moment you serve God and they pay you, the blessing stops.

“‘And the blessing of the Lord maketh rich,’ so you remain at the level of what they are paying you. You will never rise. As you can see, drummers who receive money never become rich,” he said.
