As many Nigerians continue to lament the rising cost of living and economic hardship, Presidential Spokesperson Daniel Bwala has argued that relocating abroad does not guarantee a better life.
Bwala, who serves in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, said many Nigerians in the UK are struggling with high taxes and living expenses despite earning in pounds.
He said:
“People in Nigeria are doing better than those who japa’d. Many of them are working as slaves in UK. They earn about £2,800 monthly and pay £2,450 back in tax and utility. If you earn ₦60k in Nigeria, you’re better than them.”
His comments come amid growing concerns over the cost of living, as many Nigerians continue to explore opportunities outside the country.
