The United States launched fresh military strikes on Iran for a second consecutive day, while Tehran retaliated by targeting American allies in the Persian Gulf, escalating fears of a renewed conflict
The U.S. Central Command announced on X that it struck about 90 targets on Wednesday after hitting 80 targets the previous day, saying the operations were aimed at further weakening Iran’s ability to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, Iran targeted U.S. military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, according to the semi-official Iranian Students’ News Agency.
Reacting to the latest attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, “Every time they hit us, we’ll hit them 20.”
When asked whether the U.S. and Iran were heading back into a full-scale war, Trump replied, “I don’t know. We’d win it very quickly. We have many ways we could win.”
The latest escalation comes about three weeks after both countries signed an interim peace agreement that created a 60-day window for negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict. However, talks have stalled as Iran observes a week-long mass funeral for its late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Meanwhile, the U.S. has revoked a waiver that allowed new sales of Iranian oil, accusing Tehran of carrying out attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The development has disrupted shipping through the strategic waterway.
Oil prices fluctuated following the renewed hostilities. Brent crude, the global benchmark, slipped about 0.5 percent to $77.50 per barrel on Thursday after surging more than five percent a day earlier.
