A fire outbreak has razed the private residence of the chairman of Ankpa Local Government of Kogi State, Adamu Yahaya, destroying valuables within the building, with no life lost in the process
The inferno was said to have started suddenly around 11.am on Wednesday, while the chairman and his family were inside the building.
The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be established as the residents and occupants of the building claimed that “everything happened suddenly and mysteriously”.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Idris Mohammed Omale, confirmed the incident, saying the Chairman and his family survived the devastating fire outbreak, but lost valuable property.
“We are utterly devastated by the incident and loss of properties, but our hearts are filled with immense thanksgiving to God that no life was lost.
“Despite the shocking magnitude of the blaze, the Chairman and his entire family were safely evacuated without any casualties or injuries,” Omale said.
He said the quick intervention of the residents of the community, neighbours and concerned sympathizers prevented the fire from escalating into their neighbours’ houses .
