Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, the wife of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu, has denied rumours claiming she has filed for divorce from her husband
In a statement posted on her verified X account on Friday, she described the reports as false and urged the public to ignore them.
She wrote, “My attention has been drawn to false reports circulating online claiming that I have filed for divorce from my husband, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I have not filed for divorce. The publication is entirely false and should be treated as misinformation.”
Mrs Okwu-Kanu also condemned the circulation of what she described as fabricated stories about her family without proper verification.
She urged the public to rely only on information released directly by her or through her authorised representatives.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals continue to fabricate stories about my family without any attempt at verification. Such actions undermine responsible journalism and public trust,” she said.
“I encourage the public to disregard the false report and rely only on information released directly by me or through my authorised representatives.
“I also wish to thank everyone who reached out to verify the story before sharing it. Your thoughtfulness and commitment to the truth are deeply appreciated,” she added.
