South African football is in mourning following the de.ath of midfielder Jayden Adams at the age of 25, just weeks after he represented the country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup
According to reports, the talented midfielder passed away under circumstances that have not yet been made public.

Adams, who played for Mamelodi Sundowns, featured three times for South Africa national football team at the World Cup, where the team exited in the Round of 32 after losing to Canada.
The South African Football Players Union paid tribute to the late midfielder, describing his de.ath as a heartbreaking loss.
In a statement, the union said Adams had proudly represented South Africa on football’s biggest stage and called his passing an immeasurable loss to his family, teammates, clubs, and the entire football community. It added that South African football had lost a gifted player whose future held great promise, praying for his soul to rest in peace.
The union also posted on X, saying Adams’ legacy would live on through his humility, exceptional talent, and the pride with which he represented his country.
Adams joined Mamelodi Sundowns from his boyhood club, Stellenbosch FC, last summer. Since making his senior international debut in 2024, he had become a key player for Bafana Bafana.
Just weeks before his death, Adams celebrated his World Cup appearance by sharing a photo of himself holding the tournament trophy on Instagram with the caption, “Proud moment!”
His partner, Aqueelah Adendorf, had also praised his dedication before South Africa’s clash with Canada, saying his years of hard work were finally being rewarded on the world stage.
