Isaac Fayose has defended Nigerian music stars Davido, Burna Boy, Asake and other entertainers following comments by First Lady Remi Tinubu urging them to do more to support vulnerable Nigerians.
Reacting to the First Lady’s appeal, Fayose argued that the responsibility of caring for the poor should not be placed on entertainers while elected officials control public resources.
“I disagree with our First Lady Remi Tinubu on saying Davido, Burna, Asake should use the money they are using to buy big cars on charity. Why can’t APC state governors take ₦500 million monthly to support the poor people in their various states?
Why instruct them to buy jeeps for APC women leaders when people are poor in their various states?” he said.
Fayose maintained that the musicians owe the government nothing and should not be singled out to shoulder responsibilities that belong to public office holders.
